Idyllic Pastures

Description

While the soil of The Bailey has been farmed and re-farmed so long it is no longer suitable for bulk production agriculture, the constant cultivation lends a tameness and ease of growth to the land that feels both at ease and brimming with greenery and small life.

Area Affected

All outdoor areas within the Settlement Perimeter in which there is natural grass underfoot and direct sunlight can reach most of the day.

Mechanics

PFA: Shepherd of the Land

You may choose to gain 5 Exhaustion Points in order to plant a Crop in your Garden and activate any level of the Agriculture Skill you posess (even if other ZoMs may prevent it). This Crop must be a reasonable-effort physical representation of the Herb or Produce you are attempting to grow, and must be at least 1 cubic foot in volume (Bounding Polygon not Water Displacement, nerds). If you do so, the Full Engagement and Active Roleplay Requirement for that use of Agriculture is instead replaced with the requirement that the Crop remain upright, undisturbed, and unharmed for a period of 1 hour (any Damage, Break, or Destroy effects count as harm), at which point the User may return to their Crop, take down the props, and collect their harvest from Logistics.

All Crops planted by a single Shepherd after the first must be placed within 1 foot of another Crop planted by the same Shepherd. The area containing the Crops is called that Shepherd's Garden. A Shepherd may have only one such Garden at a time, though the Crops within it may be of mixed types provided each herb/produce is represented appropriately. We encourage you to ham up the props and attempt to make your Garden look as if it is thriving (and particularly engaging or entertaining displays may be rewarded...). While relatively few threats in the Bailey will specifically target Crops or Gardens, farmers should be mindful of high traffic areas and occasional barnyard pests.
