Lascarian by birth, the entity known as Perkins has been around the Last Hope University for about the last twenty years. Perkins flunked out of the culinary program of the College of Chemistry decades ago, but never really left because the food was good and there were lots of gooey bits to play around with. Perkins wasn't formally inducted into the staff until about a decade ago when Chancellor Chevalier noticed Perkins in one of the dissection labs some ten years after the student flopepd out. Perhaps the Chancellor confused the Lascarian for someone else, but soon thereafter Perkins began to draw a salary from the university and was assigned quarters.
Ten years on, Perkins is the Dean of the Medical college. Everyone seems to have accepted this fact and nobody really questions it anymore. At least nobody that's still around.
After all this time Perkins has basically assumed his first name is Dean rather than it being a title.
