Personal history

Born & raised in South Bailey (just a hair southwest of the J. Andrews Technology Enclave), Jupiter "Pit" Knox comes from a relatively large family - 3 older siblings, none younger (that he knows of; it's been a second since he's seen any of his family). He spent his two years of service "earning" Dominus Columbia citizenship in Zekiah Swamp with his family, fetching materials (radioactive and otherwise) from the irradiated land for "use by Dominus Columbia for the greater good." By the end of his two years, he had grown a resentment for the concept of doing dangerous work because others can't - especially dangerous work for the benefit of those in power. After his two years of service, Pit stayed home for about half a year, before departing his family's colony just after the Great Cane in search of something else - something more, something greater than spending his life putting himself in dangerous situations for a community that had shown him nothing but exploitation of his physical advantage. So, for the next five or so years, Pit wandered the wasteland areas surrounding Dominus Columbia. Needless to say, what he found was not more or better - just bloodier, harsher, and depressing. He stayed alive, by any means necessary. He developed a distaste for fighting, but dislikes having to hide and pray to whatever makes the world run just as much. Eventually, he made his way back to Dominus Columbia and stumbled upon a derelict lighthouse in the waters southeast of the Anna Polis coast. Desperate for a break from the loop of surviving in the wasteland, he focused on trying to fortify the lighthouse for the next Great Cane. A few months later came Suede, who helped Pit actually fortify the lighthouse, and by the time Spark-E washed up during that Great Cane, the Lighthouse Crew was underway.

Education

Pit's mother taught him the necessary skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic, but it was his father, as well as his oldest sister, who taught him about the world around them.

Family Ties

Calliope Knox - Mother. A sturdy Retrograde woman with a love for literature (whatever she can get her hands on) and music. Taught Pit how to play the very old instrument passed down in their family for years. Spent most of her time in Zekiah Swamp, last Pit checked - as she did most of the time preceeding and during his childhood (for reasons unknown to her youngest son), resulting in her eventual change into a Radiotropic Retrograde shortly after Eris's birth.
Bronte Knox - Father. A Retrograde-turned-Radiotropic, having gained a fairly bright green glow by his early adulthood. He has a gruff exterior, but a fascination with (and curiosity about) the world around him. He took odd jobs - whatever was needed and made easier by his tolerance to radiation - which often involved travel. He would find out as much as he could about the environments he traveled to, and then come home and tell Pit and his siblings everything he learned. He has a healthy respect for the Mortis, which he passed on to Pit.
Ada Knox - Sister, eldest. Born a Retrograde, she began following her father on his jobs as soon as she was allowed, eager to experience the places she had heard about all her childhood. She also inherited Bronte's healthy respect for the Mortis - which she grew into a deep appreciation, even worship by the time Pit left. She reverently passed the knowledge of the Grave Mind she gained from her own odd jobs on to Pit.
Eris Knox - Brother. Born two years after Ada, he was also not as radioactive as his father was (and mother would become). He appreciated reading inside more than his sister, but his real love was art - particularly painting. He gifted Pit with his hand-painted porcelain mask shortly after Pit earned his citizenship. He had a decent(ish) job at the Technology Enclave, last Pit heard.
Ion Knox - Brother. Born four years after Eris (and two years before Pit), he was the first in the family to be born Radiotropic. He was praised for his natural strength and physical capability all his life, which made Pit (who was also born Radiotropic) feel the need to measure up for a good chunk of his childhood. Ion was rarely home once he was old enough to work, holding multiple fairly consistent jobs at once.

A Radiotropic Retrograde wanderer of the wasteland who took up shelter in a crumbling lighthouse, eventually leading to the formation of The Lighthouse Crew.
