Eidetic Digitarian

Background

The earth beneath the Dominus Columbia is honeycombed with ancient bunkers and temples to lost technology. It was in these cloisters that researchers armed with all the wonders of pre-fall science, tasked with saving humanity from itself, strived mightily and failed utterly. Despite this tragedy, the burden of which is felt acutely even by their distant descendants, these sages and savants continue to wield what they have learned in a struggle with the great questions of the fallen world.

Eidetic Digitarians are not smarter than their wasteland cousins, but they have by necessity developed rarefied techniques of recall to manage the sheer weight of information in their archives. Eidetics are trained to rapidly process information for maximum immediate utility over long-term retention, allowing them to quickly hone whatever expertise is necessary to complete the task before them even if this mastery is ultimately fleeting. Still, many Eidetics prefer it this way, pursuing the ideal of the generalist and the jack-of-all-trades.

At the same time, the reverence among Eidetics for their wealth of esoteric learning has also led to many fragmentary mystery cults surrounding “Classified” and “Top Secret” texts. The specialized orders and rites of these Technicults are often arcane, even to supposed insiders, but the promise of privileged knowledge is a powerful lure.

Whatever path to wisdom an Eidetic follows they share a dedication to the craft of building tomorrow. Acting as living libraries and just-in-time adepts to ensure that the knowledge of the community can never again be truly lost.

Costume and Roleplay Requirements

The Eidetics are known to prefer collared tunics as a symbol of status, modeling themselves after what the ancients called “defense contractors.” They also frequently display garlands of decorated plastic cards which symbolize initiation into various ranks of their secretive Technicults.

Mechanics

Total Recall
    • You may take 10 Points (1.0 Level) of Exhaustion and spend 10 minutes of Active Role-play and Full Engagement in a Mechanical Research Area in order to gain "Upsurge: <A lore you do not possess>" for one hour. This may be used on Non-Standard and Local Lores in addition to the standard ones from the Education skill, if any exist and you know of them (as you have to know what to look for to have a good chance of finding it).
You can not use this ability if you have Level 8 Exhaustion or higher.
