PROCLAMATION

In the Name of the Republic — free, natural, and founded upon Virtue!

We hereby inform the citizens that certain most prominent personages of the old regime upon the island of Alvald, among them the former count teudbalt inberg and the former tyrant’s man nicholas laren, have hitherto eluded the sword of Republican Justice, and that there exists a possibility that these personages yet abide upon the soil of Alvald with the intent of organizing a counter-revolutionary spy-and-treason network which would serve to facilitate an hostile invasion of Alvald and the destruction of our newly won Liberty.

It is required of all citizens to show the Virtue of character becoming Republicans and to take active part in the finding and extermination of these criminal bandits who must fall before the sword of the Law. It is the Republican duty of every citizen who possesses any information regarding the movements of these personages to impart such information without delay to the organs of Republican authority and to the army of the Republic of Guntreland upon the island of Alvald.

We warn the citizens who may fall into contact with these enemies of the Republic: Between Republicans and tyrants a war to the death is waged; the victory of tyranny would mean the death of Liberty, the destruction of all Republicans and the slavery of all honest People; every royalist spared but adds to the ranks of tyranny in the war that is being fought; every royalist destroyed doth diminish that number.

We warn the citizens that money and titles which the enemies of the Republic might offer in exchange for shelter or aid will bring to those who accept them naught but the stigma of traitor to the Republic and of coward. We notify the citizens that any “orders” which these persons might dare issue, by virtue of their station in the old regime and invoking the “laws” of that regime, are not binding upon any person, for in the Republic all authority springs from the Constitution and laws of the Republic and from institutions and organs constituted under the Constitution of the Republic of Guntreland.

We remind the citizens that royalists — having no other method to justify a system of rule wherein all social privileges are inherited, wherein the people are governed without their consent, wherein one tenth of the state’s populace, by no merit, lives upon the labour of the remaining nine tenths, and wherein nine tenths of citizens are deprived of the possibility to attain social rank by their natural Virtue, Merit, Labour and Ability — employ falsehoods in discourse with those they would draw back into the chains of bondage; and therefore naught they say may be trusted: most especially the tales, condemned by the Reason of the Republic, concerning the members of the races of vampires and werewolves, such as that werewolves can turn into wolves and that vampires feel a need to drink the blood from the throat of a dying man, which tales are spread solely to provoke division and jealousy among the good citizens of the Republic.

By the publication of these notices, the right of anyone to plead ignorance of these facts is made obsolete.

Having all this in view, the following is ordered:

Every citizen who, by giving information to the institutions of Republican authority or to the army of the Republic of Guntreland, by personal action, or in any manner whatsoever, contributes to the arrest or annihilation of the personages the former count teudbalt inberg and the tyrant’s man nicholas laren, shall be recorded as a deserving citizen of the Republic.

Whoever shall give shelter, food, or any manner of aid to the personages the former count teudbalt inberg and the tyrant’s man nicholas laren, or to other personages who are generally known or manifestly royalists, or who shall withhold from the competent Republican institutions information in his possession concerning the movements, whereabouts, activities or intentions of these personages, shall be deemed a royalist and shall be annihilated in accordance with the Constitution and Laws of the Republic of Guntreland.
