Wasteland Hold'em

  • Jokers are included in the deck
  • The blinds will start at 1/5, then move to 5/10 and finally 10/20 in the final round.
  • The Marker - the button that indicates the positioning of the 'dealer' and who pays the big and small blinds
  • CHECK - pass the current bet without raising it
  • CALL - match the current bet on the table without raising it.
  • RAISE - increase the current bet on the table.
  • FOLD - discard (muck) the cards and withdraw from the hand, losing any current stake.
The dealer button is placed on the table in front of one of the players. The button moves from player to player clockwise around the table after each hand. The first two players to the immediate left of the dealer button pay the 'small blind' and big blind respectively. The big blind is the maximum bet at the table. The small blind is half that bet. The players posting the big and small blinds are the only players obligated to pay at this point.   Starting at the player with the dealer button and proceeding clockwise, each player is dealt two cards face down. Once the cards are all dealt, the players may look at their cards. Starting from the dealer button and proceeding clockwise, each player may FOLD, CALL the big blind (meaning bet that much to stay in) OR RAISE the bet. The player with the small blind is actually at an advantage here, in that they only have to pay half the blind. If they fold here, they do not have to risk any more money but are no longer in the hand.   If one player RAISES, every player after them must match the bet to stay in. Its should be noted that the small blind only has to make up the difference between the current bet and their original blind. The player options are CALL, RAISE or FOLD. If the bet has not been raised, each player may decide to CHECK, which passes the bet to the next player without raising. If anyone raises all subsequent players must either CALL (match the current bet), FOLD or RAISE. The option to CHECK is only valid if no one has raised the bet in a given round. This continues to go around until the bet stops being raised and every player has put the current bet into the pot. Once this happened the pot is called SQUARE and the game can begin.   The dealer discards one card, and then deals three cards face down in the middle of the table. Once all three cards are dealt, the dealer turns the cards over. Another round of betting begins starting at the dealer button and proceeding around the table. As before, once raises settle down and the pot is square we continue. The dealer discards another card, and then deals out a single face up card in the center of the table with the first three.   Another round of betting begins starting at the dealer button and proceeding around the table. As before, once raises settle down and the pot is square we continue. The dealer discards another card and then deals out the final card, another face up card in the center of the table with the first four.   The player options are still CHECK, CALL, RAISE or FOLD. Once the betting has settled down the players still in the hand show their cards (Called the showdown) and the dealer determines the winner that has the best hand. IF however, a player FOLD rather than CALL a raise by a previous player, the winner is under no obligation to show their cards unless they wish to.   Resolving Ties: If multiple players have the same exact hand values, the hand is called a draw and the pot is split evenly. If multiple players have the same hand for flushes and straights, the high card is declared the winner If multiple players have the same hand for one or two pairs, the highest kicker (extra card not part of a pair) wins
